Umpire Registration

Umpires are responsible for submitting their own registration and initiating their own background check via RegisterUSASoftball.com. The self-registration instructions are provided below. Umpires may not work any games until their background check has achieved a "Cleared" status. Furthermore, those working youth games, assigned to any national tournament, and/or attending a national umpire school must have completed SafeSport training core curriculum for National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and, if necessary, refresher courses. SafeSport procedures are provided at the bottom of this page.

Those having trouble with any part of the process are encouraged to contact UIC Mike Wolf (wolfden8993@yahoo.com or 701-400-2100) or the State Office (StateOffice@USASoftballND.com or 701-952-4448).

In addition to the list above, this policy details what is reviewed during the screening process, issues that would disqualify an individual, and the appeal process.

USA Softball commits to SafeSport

As the National Governing Body of softball, USA Softball - and, therefore, USA Softball of North Dakota - will be working with SafeSport in an effort to ensure safe environment for all who participate in our program. Officials in our state association as well as all ACE program coaches will have to earn SafeSport certification. For more information, check out the resources available on the USA Softball web site.

Individuals required to complete SafeSport training must start with the core curriculum for NGBs which is estimated to take 90 minutes to complete. The core training must be completed every 4 years. Each year in between requires a different refresher course. The refreshers are estimated to take 30 minutes.
